Katniss Everdeen - Girl on Fire, 1st interview gown (per book)

BEHOLD 12.5 yards of French-dye-hand-painted Italian silk covered in over 12 thousand Swarovski crystals. Go ahead - zoom in ;-)

A photo a con-goes captured of me spinning in the halls.

I'm *almost* in full cosplay in the photos of me at Sakura Con 2013. The only thing missing are my fire nails.

Details (from the book) also included in my cosplay are:
*Sparkly eye lashes
*Gold body shimmer
*Paint up arms
*Blue crystals on tips of crystal flames on gown (I used crystals instead of precious gems >.>)
*Red lips, darkened eyes
*Red extentions weaved into hair

Check out MORE photos of my FULL cosplay and keep up to do date with all the new ones by "like"-ing my facebook page [link]

Want to see how sparkly the dress is?? Check out this youtube video: [link]

this is just incredible!! I love how much attention to detail there is, and how you went for the book version of the dress/hair/makeup. Gorgeous!!

You did such a better job than the costume designer of the movie. I saw the actual dress from the movie at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising here in Los Angeles and my reaction was "Meh," but looking at just a photo of your version, I know that yours is more interesting and not only that, more true to the book. Great job! The costume designer could learn a thing or two from you!

Its hard not to like this gown, though I would have liked a bolder statement on the crystals, but that is just a personal opinion :). Other then that wonderful job!

I'd say 12 thousand crystals is a pretty bold statement, but I plan on putting more crystals on the upper red skirt. Really the only way one could make the crystals more bold would be to make the gown either completely white or black so the colors of the crystals didn't blend with the fabric =) Admittedly I'm a bit bummed they don't stand out more in photos.
And thank you!

No problem , its a beautiful dress, my idea is almost having the crystals thin out at the top of the dress while the bottom is practically covered with crystals (no fabric showing) though that would take a lot of time.

Ah, yeah. I'm sure if I were to have combined all three layers of the gown the crystals would be super thick XD I considered doing that, but I don't think having them so tightly clustered would allow the fabric to move like the way my dress does. I'm planning on doing a cluster around the wait line tho ^^
